A pool of mercury in a cave floor. Perfectly circular. Perfectly still. It reflects the ceiling — but in the reflection, instead of rock, there are stars. A night sky that does not exist. An archaeologist crouches at the edge and sees constellations that no astronomer has ever mapped.
